3rd – 6th class also did some cool experiments with Catherine Doyle as part of Science week! We peeled layers from an onion, added iodine and looked at them through a microscope to see their cells. We also got to see Catherine make some elephants toothpaste. There were shrieks of delight as the foam expanded very quickly! Thank you Catherine!
Do you know what chromatography is? Well juniors to second class in Caim do, thanks to Catherine Doyle and her helpers! We saw how the colours in the markers separated to show how they were made.
The grand finale was very impressive! We made elephant toothpaste and a big mess!
Thanks to Catherine and her helpers for a fun filled lesson in the wonders of science!
Our topic this month is homes. We designed, constructed, created and even made some dinners. Busy, busy! Thanks to all the helpers who bought passes in the siopa!
We practised lots of fine motor skills whilst completing our maths stations and we used our tuff tray for lots of letter recognition games in junior infants.
We read, we predicted, we recounted, we sequenced, we analysed characters and then we had a colouring challenge! Great job everyone and big well done to the boys!
Tuesday, 14th November marks World Diabetes day. Diabetes Ireland sent us a pack to ‘Go Blue your way’ to raise awareness about Diabetes. Thanks to one of our pupils for giving us an informative presentation on living with Diabetes and for the cool blue and white loom band bracelets! Check out our pictures of ‘Going Blue’ below.
Reminder to our families that our annual Parent/Teacher meetings take place on Tuesday and Wednesday 14th/15th November 2024. We look forward to chatting with you.
We are excited to take part in the Amber Flag initiative with Pieta House. Special thanks to Ms. Freeman, Rhys Creane and Conor Hyland for helping with our noticeboard.
We enjoyed two P.E. sessions today between the showers! We practised throwing and catching and then we played dodgeball!
After lunch, Sixth Class and Miss Mackin taught us some fun playground games that we can play together on yard. Great fun being active. Thanks so much Miss Mackin and Sixth Class!
Well done and thank you to all the pupils who made and donated Shoe boxes for the Hope Christmas Shoe box appeal. These boxes will go to children in other counties who are less fortunate than us. It is a lovely gesture to give to others.
Thank you to the transition year pupils of FCJ, Bunclody who co-ordinated the appeal and arranged for collection of the boxes.
