The game finished 0-0 after normal time and the teams could still not be separated after extra time. The pressure was on for the penalty shoot out which finished 3-2 to the Irish side. Soccer League 2020

On Friday 24-1-2020 we had the conclusion of our Lunchtime Soccer League. We were very lucky to have local councillor John O’Rourke come in to referee our A and B finals. Our B final was a very close affair in the first half with both Derry City and Wexford Youths struggling to gain a foothold in the game. However the game opened up in the second half with Wexford Youths gaining the advantage and winning 2-0. Our A final proved to be the best game of the entire league. In a very close encounter both Shamrock Rovers and Cork City locked horns and were 1-1 at half time. Great energy and skill were shown by both teams in the second half and in the end Shamrock Rovers came out on top. The end result was 3-2. John O’Rourke commented on the quality of the skills and the teamwork which was on show and presented medals.  We were blessed with the great weather and excitement and enthusiasm was shown by all involved. Well Done!!  Next on the agenda is a 4th, 5th and 6th Gaelic Football Lunchtime League.

Gaelic Football League 2019

The boys and girls from first, second and third class competed in a Gaelic football lunchtime league from September to Halloween. After five weeks of very competitive entertaining  group games Mayo and Tyrone eventually qualified for the B final with  Kerry and Wexford making it through to the A final.

The B final was a thoroughly enjoyable game which saw Mayo overcome a very strong challenge from Tyrone.

The A final didn’t disappoint, the parents who cam+-e to support were treated to an excellent display from both teams with Kerry narrowly overcoming a very strong Wexford team.

County football development officer Anthony Masterson who came to referee the finals and present medals complemented the children on the excellent skills, attitude and behaviour on display and commented that the future of Gaelic football in the Duffry looks very bright.
