We celebrated World Book Day in Caim NS today. Check out our fabulous doors. Can you you guess the book? A big well done to all the boys and girls who dressed up today, here are some pictures of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes!

5th and 6th class have been very creative over the past few weeks. We have created sock puppets by sewing felt and buttons onto our socks and are currently working on felt pictures! The children are enjoying learning new skills and are available for all patching and stitching required at home from now on!

A big thank you to Diane from Enniscorthy Hockey Club who gave us excellent sessions in Hockey over the past few months. All the children, from Junior Infants to 6th Class, got a chance to experience Hockey Training in school each week and we learned lots of new skills such as Indian and Glue Dribbling, as well as the box challenge! It was great to see the children progress so much in such a short time, at a sport that was new to many of them!

Congratulations to our Mini 7s Camogie and Hurling teams who represented our school with distinction this week! The teams, featuring children from 4th, 5th and 6th class, faced stiff opposition from Donard NS and Courtnacuddy NS here in Caim NS. The children, and their coach Mr. Kavanagh, gave it their all, with great passes, scores and saves by both teams, however, we were unsuccessful this time. The children are preparing now for their Rackard League campaigns, starting next week.

Tuesday, 21st of February we enjoyed tasty pancakes with an array of delicious toppings. Chocolate spread was the clear favourite though!

Thank you to Ms Murphy and Ms Brady for all their work in the kitchen to make sure everyone got a pancake.

We have been busy with our siopa gach Aoine and now we are learning our national anthem to sing weekly at assembly.

Some of 6th class have learned to play the tune of Amhrán na bhFiann on the tin whistle! Maith sibh!

We have been learning about healthy eating in 1st & 2nd class. We made 2 types of fruit smoothies to finish as we had been discussing food groups and intolerances. Some people preferred the dairy, some the non dairy, some couldn’t pick a favourite and some didn’t like either!

Check out these messy faces!

Well done to the children who worked very hard to create St. Brigid’s Day Crosses this year. Happy st. Brigid’s Day everyone!

Wednesday 25th of January marked a special day in the calendar of Caim NS as we welcomed our Grandparents for Grandparents’ Day. Part of Catholic Schools Week, we began our day with Mass in Caim Church with Fr. Byrne and then came back to school where tea and treats were served to our grandparents and parents. It was lovely to see so many in attendance and the children loved showing their grannys and grandads all around their school and classrooms.

5th and 6th class were busy organising interviews for the grandparents about life in their past and we were delighted to have so many volunteers! We were shocked at some of their stories about school when they were young but loved hearing about their hobbies and families. A big thank you to everyone who donated artefacts for the day for our Artefacts Tables in the foyer and the hall, they were many great reflections from our grandparents about some of the objects we had!

Thank you everyone and see you again next year!
